Tapping into the corporate conscience – how to get the best out of skills-based employer supported volunteering

The provision of corporate business skills to the voluntary and community sector is increasingly being cited as an important trend and opportunity.

Through research and consultation so far, the Improving Support modernising volunteering workstream has identified five main areas for improvement:

  1. Awareness of skills-based employer supported volunteering
  2. Accessibility of information
  3. The engagement process
  4. Partnership working
  5. Sustainability.

This workstream project will explore the suitability and feasibility of these recommendations and test out models for taking them forward.

Volunteering England has invited proposals from external agencies to carry out the first year’s action research and development (the tender for this work is now closed). The successful agency will be announced and start work at the beginning of November 2008.
