Governance and Learning Exchange PACT and Seminar

The Governance and Learning Exchange is a national PACT (Policy Action Community Team) led by Family Action. The Governance PACT is organising a seminar which explores:

1) Best practice in diversifying the volunteer workforce - the seminar will celebrate achievements to date, and identify good practice. It will aim to identify the rationale for diversity and involving volunteers from socially excluded groups and highlight progress that still needs to be made.

2). Ways in which the diversity of the volunteer force can have a higher profile within organisations and identify what actions Chairs and Trustees can put in place to influence this.

We know that the actions of Chairs and Trustees have a significant role in influencing this and we are looking for people who have 'done it' within their own organisation and understand the importance of increasing diversity

About PACTs:  A PACT is a group of people who share common knowledge or vision that come together to influence policy and practice development. The NNVIA PACTs bring together expertise from national and local organisations to focus on developing policy and practice for promoting equality and removing the barriers to volunteering The aim of the PACTs is to take forward a programme of policy and practice development which results in more people from underrepresented (Physical and Sensory Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and Refugees and Asylum seekers) groups participating in volunteering.

This work forms part of the Modernising Volunteering workstream and is led by NNVIA (National Network for Volunteer Involving Agencies)
