Sustainable models of support - report

A report that explores how support providers can make their services more sustainable was published by Capacitybuilders in March 2010. Building on a series of case studies (listed below) and interviews with key third sector stakeholders, the report provides practical tips for support providers on how to meet the challenge of providing high quality services in the current economic climate.

The report discusses four key ways to improve sustainability: different types of collaboration, engagement with public sector partners, increasing earned income, and making greater efficiencies. It discusses a range of initiatives; ranging from sharing volunteer services across council areas through to hiring out office space.

Matt Leach, Capacitybuilders’ Chief Executive said;

“We need to ensure that in all parts of the country we retain a robust, resilient organisational base for the provision of key support and advice services to frontline groups. Building sustainable services and organisations is a key part of that. The report provides important insight and learning at a time when support providers are having to respond to increasing demand for their services, and ongoing financial pressures.”
