Get the message? Improving Support courses demystify marketing and media relations

Good marketing and communications are vital components for any organisation trying to get its message across to new and existing audiences.

For a support organisation wanting to reach frontline groups, this is often a challenge. How do you package the many services you offer to frontline groups? How do you make ‘support services’ sound exciting and extend their reach to new people?

Delegates responded positively to the first two of five courses from the communications workstream; Understanding Marketing and Understanding Media Relations held in London and Birmingham in September.

These sessions attracted 67 delegates, from local support organisations, keen to gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop marketing and media relations expertise within their own organisations and the frontline groups they support.

The evaluation forms received from the course show participants found the courses and have been very well satisfied with them.

‘Very practical information. We’ll now be able to move forward.’
Take a Break (West Midlands) on Understanding Marketing.

‘It was a good course and definitely would direct us towards our goal.’
Cricklewood Youth Club (London) on Understanding Media Relations.

‘I enjoyed it and it was a well-paced course. Made it all seem achievable.’
Kensington and Chelsea Social Club (London) on Understanding Media Relations.

The same courses will be run in Bristol, Derby and Leeds. For more information on events and to book places, please visit the event calendar on the improving support website at www.improvingsupport.org.uk/events/.
