Our activities

Events and training sessions

We are currently running and developing a series of training workshops for support providers. For full details of the events and training below please visit the training and events calendar.

We are offering two strands of free workshop training.

One strand is for chief officers and chairs of infrastructure and umbrella organisations.This is training in the strategic decision making skills and knowledge needed to take your organisation successfully into the future. It is provided in two accessible bite-size sessions, which organisational leaders can fit into their busy schedules.

By the end of the workshops you will be able to:

  • isolate the external trends and forces (drivers) that matter to your organisation
  • find relevant information about your drivers
  • develop and evaluate options for strategic action
  • populate significant parts of your strategic plan.

The second strand is for development officers and others who support frontline organisations. This is a one-day workshop when you can develop your strategic analysis skills and knowledge.

By the end of the workshops you will be able to:

  • describe the value of thinking about external change to frontline organisations
  • isolate the external trends and forces (drivers) that matter to the organisations you support
  • provide advice/support to frontline organisations to ensure their effective response to social change.

Sub-sectoral projects

"A social care charity will need to keep up to date with very different information than an animal welfare charity."

We are working closely with 7-9 sub-sectoral infrastructure and umbrella organisations to:

  • create new knowledge about trends and forces that is tailored to particular sub-sectors
  • train and mentor staff in sub-sectoral organisations, developing their understanding of trends and forces and strategic implications.
